Five years ago, a group of 10 East Palo Alto teenagers and young adults got together, linked by a common vision: A community facility for arts and music education and expression. They called their group the Youth Action Team, and on their website described a mission “to ignite and enliven the mind, body, and soul through art and music; keep peace; and promote EPA youth and community to grow in a positive way.”
Now, after years of research, planning, and throwing pop-up events and festivals, the group has something concrete to show for its efforts: land for a future community arts center.
