Impact

Over the past year, EPACENTER has served over 500 students. Seventy-one percent of EPACENTER students identify as Latino, 19% as African American, 7% as Asian/Pacific Islander, and 3% as Other.

Students were recently asked on a post-program survey how highly they agreed/disagreed with statements about EPACENTER’s impact on four 21st century learning skill areas – creativity/innovation, problem-solving, teamwork/collaboration, and perseverance.

Results from these self-assessment surveys are as follows:

  • 94% of students highly agreed/agreed that EPACENTER helped them learn to do new things
  • 87% of students highly agreed/agreed that their EPACENTER class helped them stick with their projects even when they were challenging
  • 85% of students highly agreed/agreed that their EPACENTER class helped them work with others as part of a team
  • 80% of students highly agreed/agreed that EPACENTER helped them create art
  • 77% of students highly agreed/agreed that EPACENTER helped them find solutions to challenging problems

Students also rated their learning experiences at EPACENTER very favorably:

  • 98% of students highly agreed/agreed that they liked their EPACENTER classes a lot
  • 98% of students highly agreed/agreed that they liked their teachers
  • 95% of students highly agreed/agreed that they were proud of the work they completed in class
  • 94% of students highly agreed/agreed that they would take an EPACENTER class again
