EPACENTER Community Conversations

Featured Event | Posted on November 6, 2020

EPACENTER will host a series of community conversations throughout 2021 around how we can best meet the ongoing needs of kids and youth in East Palo Alto.

Based on feedback from youth and community members over a 7-year period from 2010-2017, EPACENTER had originally intended to focus its programming on art instruction and cultural activities for youth when our new building opened. But youth have recently told us that today’s inequities have affected their mental health, educational learning, future career prospects, and feelings of closeness to one another, their community and to people who are different from them. And we would like to help address these challenges.

These community conversations throughout the year with kids, youth, parents, friends, business leaders, and thought partners will explore how EPACENTER can best meet these needs, especially now that the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing inequities, and the impact of historical economic and racial injustice on the next generation have intensified.
